Fluorescent lights

why do they always cry in the dark?
It's not always like that. A cinematic masterpiece,
crouched in a dark corner of a darkened room,
dark tears streaming down their twisted face.

compare. the lights are on as usual,
you sit in your chair as usual. the desk is the same,
the clothes are the same. the night is the same.
You haven't changed, yet you're the only oddity.

does it hurt more? when your chest heaves
when your head falls back and rests,
and everything is silent. as usual
because you're the only oddity, yet you haven't changed.
